The Little Red Schoolhouse needs your help
"To reach real peace in the world, we will have to begin with the children."
Mahatma Gandhi
Since 1948, LCNS has been an integral part of the Lawrence community, where generations of families have enrolled their children and had the experience of a village raising and educating children together.

From its creation, LCNS has existed as a parent-led cooperative, serving the families of Lawrence and Douglas County through excellence in preschool education and child development. As a non-profit organization, the school relies on the efforts of our volunteer Board of Directors, the time and participation of parents, and our dedicated and talented teachers to continue our mission.

For decades, LCNS finances have been sustained by tuition, community events and fundraisers. In recent years, our annual budget has been designed so that at full family enrollment, the school is self-sustaining and we can successfully operate on a balanced budget.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we are able to do things
Because of the pandemic, we are unable to operate at full enrollment, therefore we cannot rely on the tuition income that we would normally receive.

A sustaining gift to LCNS will ensure that we are equipped for the future in an uncertain world. If there’s anything this year has taught us, it’s that anything can happen. Only the continued support of the thoughtful and committed citizens of our LCNS community can help us keep our school open and thriving, for generations to come.
